Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) & Trauma Module 3

February 15, 2022

The term “ACEs” is an acronym that stands for Adverse Childhood Experiences. The concept of ACES originated in 1995 through a research study by Kaiser-Permanente and the CDC. That study identified three categories of adversity children faced in the home environment—various forms of physical and emotional abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction. Such types of adversity can undermine a child’s sense of safety and ability to form and maintain healthy emotional bonds and can have long-term impacts on physical and mental health.

Through the Arizona ACEs Consortium, ADE certified trainers offer a series of three module trainings that include Understanding ACEs, Toxic Stress and Trauma Informed Care, and Building Resilience.

Module III: Strengths-based perspective; resilience; Strengthening Families Protective Factor Framework; trauma-informed care; and post-traumatic growth.

*Please note this training contains sensitive information and can be activating emotionally on an individual basis. We encourage self-care throughout the training.*
