Becoming a Reader and a Writer with Make Way for Books

November 4, 2020

This professional development session focuses on fostering children’s emergent literacy skills as defined by the Arizona Early Learning Standards and Arizona’s Infant and Toddler Developmental Guidelines. The concepts, identified by developmental age groups, include: language development, vocabulary, book handling skills, concepts of print, phonological awareness, alphabet knowledge, comprehension, and emergent writing skills. The facilitators offer participants the opportunity to engage in activities to make connections between books and the learning possibilities they can offer children all day, every day.
