Culturally Responsive Classrooms: Creating culturally responsive classrooms in support of children, families, and caregivers

November 21, 2023

Creating culturally responsive classrooms includes awareness of one’s own culture, the cultures of colleagues, and the cultures of children and families. Through increased awareness, there are more opportunities to acknowledge and address biases and support expulsion prevention.  Awareness of culture and diversity within the classroom setting also supports caregivers in increasing communication and partnerships with children, parents, and families. This 2-hour module provides participants increased understanding in how creating culturally responsive classrooms helps to reduce suspensions and expulsion, opportunity to examine definitions and aspects of culture, and provides strategies to consider in applying concepts to the classroom. Technical assistance is available to participants after this training is completed.
