We will be hearing from PD Providers about upcoming PD Programs. PD Programs generally are professional development opportunities that last over a longer period of time and include a more significant commitment from participants, such as a Community of Practice, the TREC Teacher Leader Program, or even a series of workshops.

Jen Kinser-TRaut- Tucson Regional Educator Collaborative (TREC)
TREC brings together the region’s educators, resources, and partners to support their evolving professional growth. In this resource, we highlight the TREC Teacher Leader program and our new Mentor Community of Practice.
JAMIE VOUGHT- SCIENCE TEACHER RESIDENCY PROGRAM (STAR)
This Science Teacher Residency Program (STAR) training focuses on addressing common misconceptions about STEM subjects that are often taught in the classroom and giving participants the tools to take those same lessons back to their schools.
ANGELA MARQUEZ- EDUCATORS IN DATA SCIENCE (EDSCI) FELLOWSHIP 2022-2023
The Educators in Data Science Fellowship is a combined weeklong summer PD and yearlong fellowship for Arizona K-14 educators that are interested in incorporating data science into their curriculum. We believe that (1) data science is a fundamental aspect of all educational content, (2) through a supportive community, K-14 educators can incorporate data science into the existing curriculum, and (3) all K-14 learners have the potential to engage in data science. Arizona educators of any field, at any level of expertise that is looking to teach 21st-century skills in data science, are encouraged to find more information at dataacademy.arizona.edu.
SUZANNE KAPLAN- TEACHERS IN INDUSTRY PROGRAM
Teachers in Industry bridges the gap between education and industry by connecting teachers with companies across Arizona during the summer. Through these PAID summer fellowships and graduate-level courses, teachers are better equipped to prepare their students for careers in Arizona businesses and industries yet to be imagined.
DENICE CONTRERAS- UNITED WAY OF TUCSON AND SOUTHERN ARIZONA
The Great Expectations grant provides no-cost professional development to early childhood educators who reside and/or work in Pima County. Our PD opportunity is done through a community of practice (CoP) model which meets monthly and typically runs from August through June every year. There are several different topics to choose from.
ALISON HERNANDEZ- ARIZONA VIRTUAL TEACHER INSTITUTE
Arizona Virtual Teacher Institute includes a variety of PD programs designed to build knowledge, collaborate, and share tools for teachers. Programs include Math Institute: Constructing Mathematical Minds, Elevating Student Engagement Boot Camp, and Project-Based Learning.
RODRIGO GUTIERREZ- CENTER FOR RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION OF MATHEMATICS TEACHERS (CRR) IMPACTS PROGRAM
The IMPACTS-MS program focuses on developing teacher confidence and capability with the Critical Foundations of Algebra in middle school mathematics, while also supporting opportunities for teacher leadership. https://crr.math.arizona.edu
MARY BOULEY- COMMUNITYSHARE TEACHER FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
CommunityShare’s Teacher Fellowship is an 8-month professional learning experience for PK-12 educators in Arizona. The Fellowship provides a supportive space, relationships, and resources to help teachers adapt to changing learning conditions, practice self-care, and build meaningful connections between their students and the broader community. Fellows will work with their peers to plan and co-design real-world learning experiences and projects with community partners.
CYNNAMON WOODBERRY- THE STORY PROJECT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
The Make Way for Books Story Project is a research-based model that provides a comprehensive continuum of services, programming, and resources to children, parents, and teachers at more than 150 preschools, childcare centers, and home-care providers throughout southern Arizona. The program fosters a literacy-rich environment in the classroom and at home. Through professional development opportunities and regular on-site coaching, the program supports educators and provides resources they can immediately implement into their classrooms.
ABBY LIMMER- FULBRIGHT-HAYS GROUP PROJECTS ABROAD APPLICATIONS
This program provides grants to support overseas projects in training, research, and curriculum development in modern foreign languages and area studies for teachers, students, and faculty engaged in a common endeavor. Projects may include short-term seminars, curriculum development, group research or study, or advanced intensive language programs. NEH Summer Institute: WWI in the Middle East and Teachers Collaborating Across Borders.
PATTY STOWERS- TEACH ARIZONA
Teach Arizona is a one-year master’s degree program for people who have a bachelor’s degree and wish to become certified to teach middle or high school. Students move through the coursework as a cohort and intern in the public schools with a mentor teacher for a full school year.
