Description: The key to helping kids understand and successfully solve word problems is to help them visualize and decide the overall “structure” and relationships of any given problem. Students are then able to model their problems using tape diagrams, which will then show them what operations to use in order to find the missing piece. Participants will have the opportunity to model problems of various structures using tape diagrams and analyze examples of well-labeled tape diagrams.
