Teach Together: Environmental Poetry Intensive

ASU’s Center for Public Humanities, in partnership with Poetry in America, presents this three-day summer intensive designed to support middle and high school educators across disciplines in deepening their expertise as readers and teachers of literature through focused study of environmental poetry. Participants will learn and practice Poetry in America’s Four Pillars approach for analyzing complex texts: making observations, understanding structure and form, situating texts in history and enjoying language. The intensive will provide content area and pedagogical instruction for teachers, as well as engaging curricular materials including videos, poems, and lesson plan ideas that participants can use with their own students.  

 

Audience: MS/HS educators and leaders

Certificate Hours: PD certificate for 10 hours upon completion of three day boot camp
