Challenging Behavior: What does it mean? Children often communicate through their behaviors. Understanding the meaning behind challenging behaviors is an important part of finding a way to manage that behavior. In this 2-hour module, participants will learn what challenging behavior is, the message behind the behavior, and the long-term effects to the children who exhibit these behaviors. They will discuss how teachers’ views of challenging behavior can be guided to reframe problem behavior as an opportunity to provide skill instruction that can be offered at the first sign of these challenges in order to achieve the best possible outcomes and explore strategies that can help teachers effectively manage challenging behaviors.
