Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research

The LTRR's Outreach Program’s mission is to foster a deep understanding and appreciation of dendrochronology, and provide a gateway to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We are dedicated to advancing science education by providing accessible resources and experiential learning for all. Our commitment to scientific literacy drives us to promote critical scientific thinking and inquiry-based learning through our curriculum, teaching, and research experiences. We engage with broad audiences and stakeholders to communicate dendrochronology research and its interdisciplinary applications. Our goal is to empower people to better address societal and environmental challenges.

The Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research (LTRR) Outreach program offers a comprehensive suite of resources and programming for educators, including hands-on field trips to the lab, classroom instruction, and engaging field classes that bring dendrochronology to life for students. Educators can access virtual tours, science kits for loan, and educator lesson plans, supporting project-based learning and inquiry-driven exploration. The program also provides mentoring opportunities and supports teacher professional development through specialized training, workshops, and partnerships with other science education organizations. These offerings are designed to advance science education and foster meaningful connections between teachers, students, and the scientific community.
