Wildcat Writers facilitates reciprocal learning partnerships between the UA Writing Program and local area high schools. Participants connect with audiences in the broader community to promote public engagement, encouraging personal, professional, and intellectual growth for students and teachers.
Wildcat Writers is an evidence-based program that tracks the recruitment and retention of Title 1 high school students coming to our university, and uses the teacher and student feedback to improve upon community writing best practices for co-teaching and reciprocal community engagement. Funding has historically come from the university Writing Program and other university-based grants for community engagement; however, we are eligible for federal funds that track underrepresented students attending a Hispanic-Serving Institution.
