How does a semiconductor go from a manufactured chip to part of a working electronic system?
That question opens the door to a much larger conversation about engineering, manufacturing and the people behind the technology.
The ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ผ๐๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ gives teachers the background to have that conversation with their students.
Over eight weeks, educators will follow the semiconductor process through several stages:
โข Semiconductor manufacturing: how chips are made
โข Packaging: how a chip becomes part of a functional system
โข Testing: how engineers evaluate quality, performance and reliability
โข Advanced packaging: technologies influencing the next generation of electronics
Faculty and industry experts will join live virtual sessions throughout the fellowship, giving educators access to people who work with these technologies and can put the technical material in context.
The goal is for educators to leave with enough technical understanding to make semiconductor concepts more concrete for students and connect them to STEM and career exploration.
No semiconductor or engineering experience is required.
