Beyond Multiple Choice: What Makes an Assessment Truly 3D?

April 30, 2026

In this 30-minute power session, school leaders will explore how high-quality performance tasks capture students’ three-dimensional sensemaking beyond traditional multiple-choice assessments. Using examples from OpenSciEd, attendees will examine key criteria for designing and evaluating tasks aligned to the NRC Framework and reflect on what strong 3-Dimensional science assessment looks like in practice.

Interested in learning more about the OpenSciEd curriculum? Administrators are invited to stay after the session for a brief overview presented by ASTA. Beginning at 11:00 AM, we will share key features of OpenSciEd and how it supports high-quality, three-dimensional science instruction.
