Brave Play

October 8, 2026

You didn’t sign up to spend your day saying no.

“Be careful.”

“Get down.”

“That’s too dangerous.”

“Don’t touch that.”

If your day sounds like an endless loop of those four phrases, you’re not alone, and you’re definitely not doing anything wrong. You’re doing exactly what you were trained to do: protect kids from getting hurt.

But somewhere along the way, protecting turned into hovering, and hovering turned into exhausting. You’re on high alert all day, scanning the playground, ready to grab a kid off a log before anything happens. And your classroom is full of the safe, flat, boring stuff. Nobody signed up for that. Not you, not the kids.

Picture the version where you’re not the anxious one.

Kids climbing, balancing, using real tools, actually testing themselves. And you, standing back, relaxed, watching with the kind of calm that comes from actually knowing what you’re doing, not just hoping nothing goes wrong.

Parents nodding at pickup instead of asking questions. Co-teachers asking how you got so chill about all of it. That’s not a fantasy. That’s what happens once you have a plan for risk instead of just a fear of it.
