The PD will model instruction and provide strategies and insights for teaching three-dimensional science consistent with the Arizona Science Standards and the vision for science teaching and learning from the 2011 National Research Council’s Report A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Core Ideas, and Crosscutting Concepts. Brett Moulding, Director of the Partnership for Effective Science Teaching and Learning (PESTL), will deliver all PD sessions.
Cohorts 3 and 4 engage teachers in a deeper dive into understanding science teaching and learning. The use of effective 3-dimensional science strategies with proven success in classrooms. Teachers will engage in hands-on investigations and be provided an opportunity to work with fellow teachers to develop Arizona-specific lesson plans and assessment tasks. This will be a fun and engaging professional learning experience you can take back to your classroom and use with your students.
Both groups will have a book study with the authors of the book. This will be a fun opportunity for teachers to engage in academic discourse about best teaching practices that are practical for implementation in their classrooms.
