The core ideas provide a progression of how students explain the causes of phenomena and design solutions to problems that students encounter in their daily lives. Core ideas serve as the major organizer of concepts that allow learners to make connections and further refine and enhance their ideas in knowing and using physical science; Earth science; and life science. Participants will gain an understanding of how the core ideas are differentiated in the AZ Science Standards; how they progress over grade bands; and the need to shift instruction to address students’ learning; exploration; and explanation of the core ideas.
