This training will give a brief overview of the attachment process and attachment phases of infants and toddlers. There will also be a focus on developmentally appropriate behaviors which will decrease the likelihood that children will be expelled due to misinterpreted behaviors (excessive crying, biting, clinginess, etc). This training will also convey how to decrease challenging behaviors by helping teachers identify strategies to increase a child’s feelings of trust and security within the teacher-child relationship. The risk of expulsion will be reduced when children’s needs are met causing a decrease in their challenging behaviors. This training will encourage group reflection and exploration for the purpose of identifying barriers to building security and strategies that teachers can utilize to build security with infants and toddlers in the classroom. The focus on group contribution will support varying perspective on effective approaches and strategies that can be implemented into a classroom setting. There will be a combination of approaches and strategies that can be used with individual children and with the class as a whole. Technical assistance is available after receiving this training.
Note: This training is for those working with Infants and Toddlers
