Equitable Grading Community of Practice 2024-2025

Do your students’ grades accurately reflect their mastery of the standards? Do you ever feel like you’re spinning your wheels trying to juggle hundreds of assignments, checking homework, assigning extra credit, and not seeing positive results in your work? You might need “Grading for Equity”.

This Community of Practice (CoP) challenges traditional approaches to assessment, with participants exploring equity issues related to grading and strategies to overcome them in your classroom.  Key practices of equitable grading include:

  • Lifting the veil on how to succeed
  • Valuing knowledge, not environment or behavior
  • Supporting hope and a growth mindset
  • Building “soft skills” and motivate students without grading them
  • Practices that are accurate and mathematically sound

This CoP is FREE to attend thanks to a generous grant from the Helios Education Foundation.

DETAILS:

Each participant will receive a copy of the book, Grading for Equity, by Joe Feldman.
