Free Webinar – Designing Immersive Learning Experiences in the Language Classroom: Leveraging AI for Interpersonal Communication

February 19, 2026

This webinar explores using generative AI to enhance language teaching, positioning AI as a pedagogical resource rather than a replacement.

Dr. Christiane Reves from NYU discusses approaches rooted in pedagogical decision-making, using AI as a creative partner in curriculum design and lesson planning. The session examines how GenAI supports hybrid teaching models through combinations of in-person interaction and AI-mediated practice, expanding access for learners with limited time.

Dr. Reves shares how the need for more speaking opportunities led to developing a proficiency-standards-aligned AI conversation partner for hybrid courses. Examples include AI-supported role plays and communicative tasks tailored to different proficiency levels and goals, demonstrating how AI enhances authentic materials in classroom environments. The webinar also covers leveraging institutional partnerships to secure support and funding for innovative initiatives. Dr. Reves co-developed Language Buddy, an AI-powered speaking tool featured in Nature and other publications.

Live attendees can request 1.5 hours CE credit via a certificate of attendance.
