This one-hour, teacher-focused webinar supports classroom implementation of the Science and Engineering Practice of Asking Questions. Participants will experience a revised version of the Question Formulation Technique (QFT) as learners and explore how it helps students move from “wondering” to asking testable questions about the causes of a phenomenon. Using an OpenSciEd lesson and classroom video, an adapted questioning form from the Illinois Storylining Group, scaffolded question stems, and peer feedback tool, teachers will examine how to help students revise, strengthen, and select questions that can be investigated with available data or materials. The session emphasizes practical, classroom-ready strategies for ensuring student questions meaningfully drive investigations and the development of a Driving Question Board (DQB).
