The Pima County Family Resource Guide is a tool for community members to get “plugged-in” to local programs and resources that support the whole family, from food assistance and mental health services, to early intervention and access to child care. Parents often feel overwhelmed by information when seeking resources. The Pima County Family Resource Guide was intentionally designed by local First Things First staff to showcase a condensed collection of regional resources and help the community easily navigate support systems.
Guide’s Use and Purpose:
This guide has been designed through input from parents, partners, community members, surveys, and regional data to inform its current version so that it is useful for our wider community. We are grateful to everyone who has lent their expertise and insight throughout this process. The following is a brief overview of our guide’s design elements.
During our design phase, we found that parents are often overwhelmed by information when seeking resources and therefore we intentionally created the guide to be a condensed version of regional offerings in order to limit confusion and have an easy to navigate resource for families. The guide is meant to offer ways for families to get “plugged-in” to the system and find additional resources that meet their specific needs once they have been connected to a support.
This guide is designed to be a living document, changing along with the changing needs of our community and the support offered. We have embedded feedback forms into the guide, one for families and one for providers, in order to allow for ongoing community input with the desire to continuously improve the guide for those that utilize it.
We know that parents often find out about resources through word of mouth from trusted sources. To ensure this guide makes it into the hands of parents across our region, we are in part relying on the connections and trust that you have built with families to help in this process.
This guide has been designed to be offered in both digital and print versions, with an emphasis on digital access for ease of use. Included at the end of the digital version of the guide is a one-page flier with a QR code that will open the guide on any mobile device or computer. We encourage community members and partners to print this page to post wherever parents may see it. We will also have a postcard-sized version of the flier for outreach purposes.
The digital versions of this guide may be accessed through the First Things First webpage for both Pima North and Pima South regions under “Regional Publications”:
