Course Description:

How should students in CTE be assessed? How do we set up a fair grading system for both teachers and students? This course is designed to look at the wide variety of options that address both of these questions so that you can establish your own philosophy for grading, and identify fair and appropriate methods to assess student learning and progress in your program. Participants will engage with a variety of formative and summative assessment techniques and create a performance rubric aligned to program standards.

Objectives:
-Identify a variety of types of formative assessments
-Identify a variety of types of summative assessments
-Defend his/her differentiation between monitoring and assessing
-Evaluate the quality of performance-based rubrics
-Create an effective rubric for a performance in his/her CTE program
-Identify best practices in grading
-Develop a personal grading philosophy
