In today’s educational landscape, movement is often treated as optional—an elective, an “extra,” or something students get if time allows. Yet research continues to show that physical activity is a foundational element of whole-child development, academic achievement, mental health, and long-term well‑being. It’s time for a shift: movement must be seen not as a luxury, but as an essential part of every child’s school day.
Designed specifically for health and physical educators, this webinar explores how to reposition movement as a vital, non-negotiable component of the school experience. We will discuss evidence-backed benefits of regular physical activity, address common systemic barriers, and highlight practical strategies for advocating for stronger movement-based programming in schools.
Participants will gain tools to communicate the academic, cognitive, social and emotional value of movement to administrators, colleagues, and families. We’ll also explore innovative models that integrate movement across the curriculum, making it accessible to all students—not just those enrolled in traditional PE classes.
