Making Sense Together (IMPACTS-HS)

November 19, 2026

In this interactive IN-PERSON ONLY two-hour IMPACTS workshop, participants will explore two powerful strategies designed to help students make sense of challenging problems, strengthen mathematical reasoning, and build shared understanding. Teachers will experience structures that support students in slowing down, attending carefully to mathematical situations, and communicating their thinking with greater clarity and purpose.

Throughout the session, participants will consider how purposeful routines can create more space for students to listen to one another, refine ideas, make connections, and contribute to whole-class sense-making. We will also examine teacher moves that support productive discussion without taking over the mathematical thinking.

Teachers will leave with practical, adaptable strategies they can use across high school mathematics to strengthen comprehension, reasoning, discourse, and consolidation.

*Workshop also includes free pizza. Please bring your own drink!

Location: In-person ONLY in Vail, Arizona
