More Than Screen Time: Designing Intentional Technology Use in the Classroom

February 9, 2027

What’s more important: Screen Time or Screen Value?

When it comes to screen time in the classroom, the most important question isn’t how much—it’s how and why technology is used. In this engaging, hands-on session, K–12 educators will rethink what intentional technology integration really looks like in practice. Participants will examine the difference between active and passive screen use, analyze real classroom lessons, and make thoughtful decisions about when technology enhances learning—and when it may not be needed at all.

Grounded in Arizona’s standards, this session emphasizes balance, student agency, and meaningful learning. Educators will leave with practical, ready-to-use strategies for designing instruction that supports both academic growth and responsible digital citizenship.
