“Human brains are naturally wired to speak; they are not naturally wired to read and write.” – Louisa Moats
What’s the big deal with phonological awareness, phonics, morphology, semantics, and syntax? What is the difference, and how do I explicitly teach these and other important literacy components to guide my students to become skilled readers? How do I get my struggling older students to comprehend and read fluently? If you’ve ever asked these questions, this book study might be for you.
By learning about early language development and connecting to higher forms of language in reading and writing, Speech to Print book study participants will learn about and discuss practical application of the fundamentals of structured literacy instruction for all students. Louisa Moats is the co-developer of LETRS Training and is a leading expert on brain research and how humans learn to read.
