Directors are critical to their program’s quality and day to day operations. Research shows they are gatekeepers to quality and have an enormous impact on the overall performance of their staff. In this two-hour module, participants will learn to adopt a developmental supervision model that will accommodate the individual differences of staff which will include their strengths, needs, and specific interests. They will learn the importance of developing job descriptions, the use of performance appraisals, and individualized professional development plans for staff. Having the opportunity to reflect on successes and challenges will help support their day to day interactions in the classroom, leading to more successes for both themselves and the children in their care. Participants will learn that when these tools and methods are used the process of improvement and change will begin while at the same time reducing the need for expulsion. Technical assistance is available after participation in this training.
