Title: Foundations of Fluency for Instruction and Intervention
Description: Computational fluency is built on foundations and good beginnings. These skills and the ability to use them with little thought are potential barriers to students realizing their fluency. In this interactive workshop, we explore essential foundations for fluency like number relationships, estimation, decomposition, counting, structures, and reasoning strategies. Through hands-on activities, discussion, and practical applications, we will unpack actions for teaching, reinforcing, and assessing these ideas to transform them from barriers into strengths. Educators will leave with a toolkit of high-impact instructional routines, assessments, and strategies that can be applied immediately in classrooms to build fluency from the ground up.

Title: Pull Up a Chair: Moving Student Thinking Through Asset-Based Assessment and Math Progressions
Description: What if assessment meant sitting beside students rather than grading papers? In this session, we’ll explore how listening for understanding reveals students’ strengths, guides their next steps, and helps teachers see where thinking lies within a progression. Discover how asset-based assessment shifts focus from deficits to strengths, building on what students already know. Let’s pull up a chair, listen intentionally, and move student thinking forward.
