Tucson Village Farm Field Trips

Bring your classroom to the farm!

Tucson Village Farm offers field trip options for pre-K, elementary, middle, and high school students.

Growing Forward is a two-hour, field trip-based K-2 agriculture education program during which students move through stations on the farm learning about food production, soil science, composting, vermicomposting, nutrition, and whole grains. Kids will spend time on the farm doing “farm chores” (planting, harvesting, watering, etc.), participate in a vegetable “scavenger hunt” (veggie ID) on the farm, learn about the wonderful world of worms, feed the chickens, learn about the importance of eating whole grains, enjoy some independent nature play, and enjoy one or more healthy farm-fresh snacks.

The cost is $8/student; adults are always free.

Dig In! This two-hour farm-to-table immersion is designed for grades 3-12 and is located at our new “Big” Farm and 4-H Healthy Living Center at 2201 E. Roger Rd.  This remarkable space is home to our 1+ acre vegetable production area, a ropes course, an art space, a composting facility, indoor and outdoor classrooms, and our brand new commercially certified teaching kitchen.

In this hands-on program, students will literally get their hands dirty while learning about the production of vegetables using responsible growing practices.  They will also prepare a healthy snack on our 1600 sq ft covered patio and engage in outdoor team-building exercises and leadership development activities.

The cost is $9/student; adults are free.

Team-Building on the 4-H Ropes Course: This program is designed for participants in 5th grade and up and is also an excellent option for corporate, business, and organizational groups. By combining high and low ropes elements, the experience cultivates essential skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork. With a blend of ground-based team-building initiatives, climbing challenges, and support from our highly experienced staff, groups visit the 4-H Ropes Course to strengthen their bonds, build trust, and develop mental resilience in the face of adversity. If your group can’t make it to us, we can bring the challenge to you with our Portable Course!

$450 for up to 30 people, including up to 3 hours of programming. Additional participants and extended program duration can be accommodated for an extra fee. Please inquire for more details.

Caving Exploration: Join us for an exciting caving trip where your group will explore underground chambers and impressive rock formations at Peppersauce cave—an immersive outdoor education experience.

We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your school or organization. The trip requires at least 8 hours, including travel time.

Open to participants aged 12 and above. Participants should bring a headlamp and sturdy shoes.

NEW FOR 26-27! Roots and Hooves: This two-hour immersive farm adventure gives students the opportunity to connect with goats, chickens, and the world of food production through hands-on learning. Participants will explore what it means to care for animals with respect and responsibility, practice gentle interactions, and build empathy for living things. Along the way, students will rotate through four engaging stations designed to foster teamwork, communication, and community-building in an outdoor environment.

By exploring the farm, students will gain a deeper understanding of where everyday foods and products come from and the important role farmers play in our lives. It’s a fun, meaningful experience that cultivates curiosity, connection, and respect for farm life.
