6th Grade Science: Space and Beyond

This phenomena-based unit includes most of the Earth and Space science standards for sixth grade.  You will learn how to use modeling through a 5E lesson plan to teach moon phases, eclipses, tides, and components of the solar system.  You will also walk away with a class set of all of the materials ready to jump in and teach!

PD Hours: 12 hours
Date: May 30-31, 2024
Time: 8am-3pm (lunch included)
Location: Stapley Junior High School (3250 E Hermosa Vista Dr, Mesa, AZ 85213)
Cost/Commitment Fee: $35 for ASTA members; $50 for Non-ASTA members

  • $300 Stipend ($200 for attending workshop; additional $100 for providing feedback of unit and/or /implementing the unit

Expectations

  • Bring devices and chargers, reusable water bottles
  • Be prepared for air conditioning
  • Dress professionally
  • Bring the completed W9 (linked here) with you to the workshop
  • If you live 50+ miles from the workshop location please use a map image to document your mileage for reimbursement.
