Create a Healthy Tomorrow: Stress Strategies for Kids, Instructor Training

June 15, 2021

The COVID19 pandemic has both revealed and worsened the levels of stress our community is under. When stress becomes too high it can negatively impact the physical health and emotional wellbeing of children and adults. While many things have been out of your control this year, there are ways that you can protect yourself and your children from some of the effects of toxic stress. Mindfulness is one great tool that can be used to decrease our stress and improve health. Mindfulness has been shown to increase the ability to focus, improve relationships, improve academic performance, improve overall physical and mental health, and most importantly, you start to see these benefits with just a couple of minutes of practice a day. El Rio Health is excited to be offering an online Create a Healthy Tomorrow: stress strategies for children Instructor Training in the month of June.

The Create a Healthy Tomorrow: stress strategies for children curriculum is designed for 2nd-8th grade-aged children but the modules are of great benefit to the instructor’s own stress management practice as well. Past program graduates include educators, social workers, behavioral health consultants, fitness and after-school program instructors, and parents. The online instructor training is a 5 session program, 1.5 hours per session. Each session will consist of one hour of material and 30 minutes of interactive teach-back practice, coaching, and questions.

The upcoming online course will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 5:00-6:30 pm starting June 15th and completing June 29th. Participants will receive the Instructor Manual as well as an Instructor Certification upon completion.
