Integrating Indigenous Perspectives in Social Studies

June 22, 2022

The Arizona social studies standards require that Indigenous peoples and tribal governments are taught across K-12, but we know that teachers may struggle to incorporate Indigenous voices in an authentic and meaningful way.

In this virtual professional learning workshop, educators will have the opportunity to build their content and background knowledge about Indigenous perspectives in social studies topics. Educators will explore guidelines developed by Indigenous and social studies educators, model lessons, and developmentally-appropriate resources that can be used in the classroom.
