Math Institute: Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices

August 25, 2022

Effective teaching is necessary to ensure all students learn mathematics. Through this Professional Development series, participants will gain knowledge in specific, research-based teaching practices that are essential to the math success of each and every student. The eight Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices we will examine come from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) publication called Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All (2014). Through this series, participants will follow a cycle to learn, which includes examining instructional strategies, best practices and student/teacher actions. Participants will have the opportunity to create an action plan to apply what they have learned, collaborate with other Arizona math teachers and continually reflect on their implementation. Participants will earn 1 hour of PD credit for attending each session.
