Oracle State Park offers educational programs to engage students and offer curriculum support for educators throughout the state. These programs bring concepts learned in the classroom into a real-world context, encouraging students to connect with the local natural and cultural history. Our field trips feature a guided hike (up to 1 mile) with students participating in activities at different stops along the way.
There is an admission fee of $2 per student, with adult chaperones/teachers admitted free of charge for field trips. We offer financial aid for Title 1 schools, including educational admission waivers and have limited funding to help cover district bussing costs.
We currently offer two field trip programs:
The Oracle Adventure: Grades 1-3
The Oracle Adventure offers an environmental awareness program specifically designed for sensory learning. This participatory and interactive field trip focuses on developing an awareness of nature through the senses. Park rangers and docents will guide students during this 90 minute program, as they explore the oak-grassland. Teachers receive a packet with pre-visit and post-visit classroom activity suggestions to further enhance the on-site experience.
The Oracle Odyssey: Grades 4-6
The Odyssey sparks curiosity, challenges students to think about the environment in new ways, and encourages students to consider simple positive actions that contribute to a healthy environment. This 2-2 1/2 hour program focuses on habitat and interrelationships, including how humans are an integral part of the natural community through a variety of hands-on activities. Teachers receive a packet with pre-visit and post-visit classroom activity suggestions to further enhance the on-site experience.
